Casio sells one billionth electronic calculator
Tokyo (Japan) - Casio today said that it ha sold its one billionth electronic calculator. The firm’s first electronic calculator, model 001, went on sale in 1965. Bell Punch/Sumlock’s "ANITA" , considered the world’s first electronic calculator was available beginning in 1961 for about $2200. However, Casio claims that the 001 was first to come with a memory function.
Casio’s history reaches back to 1957, when the company introduced "the world’s first fully electric compact relay calculator", model 14-A.
