CA's New High-Density SCSI-3 Connector
After all the standards are set for devices, someone's got to come out with the widgets that will hook them up so that you can use them. Circuit Assembly is one of the unsung builders of things that plug your gadgets into the orifices they are intended to plug into. The company's new.050" socket is compatible with the SCSI-3 standard and will hook up the drives to your system when you move to devices that embrace the standard. OK, so this isn't a story about a new motherboard or processor, but it is hardware and, while the thing isn't as glamorous as such things that come out when the economy is booming, it's a necessary piece of equipment and, too me at least, it's more interesting than a review of disposable batteries . CA's MDS connector features a cable guidance system that has a grooved cover and grooved retainer with a two-prong contour design contact. CA says the cable alignment system "captures the cable to ensure precise location of conductors before, during, and after termination," and that "the unified die cast frame consolidates several components in one unibody design and greatly improves the mounting and assembly quality." The MDS connector will be priced at $1.40 in high volume quantities. Maybe the chemistry of batteries is kinda interesting.
