The red stays red and the dominant greenish hue of the neon signs is maintained. The EOS 300D does extremely well in the colorimetric test.

One of the disadvantages of integral flash is explained by this example. The image was captured using a (large) 24-70 mm f:2.8 zoom lens, clearly showing the area of shade produced by the lens barrel when external flash is used. The conclusion to be drawn is that you can't use any old thing with the EOS 300D, and in this particular case, an external flash is a requirement.
