Canadian buys microsoft.com for $50
A Canadian businessman became a media mogul - if only briefly - thanks to a computer glitch that enabled him to buy two prime pieces of Internet real estate.
Chris Gronski, a 31-year old e-business manager, discovered the snafu at the Web site of Network Solutions, Inc. that allowed him to register the domain names microsoft.com and yahoo.com for $50 each.
The company said the glitch was an internal software problem, unrelated to the Y2K bug, and lasted only an hour.
