Cadmium Exposure Mimics Estrogen

Cadmium, a metal used in rechargeable batteries, is known to cause kidney damage and bone disease. A new study shows it might also cause early puberty and possibly breast cancer. "Researchers at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., found that the equivalent of the highest amount of cadmium exposure allowed by the World Health Organization caused estrogen-like effects in rats."
