Bully game now available

In spite of rampant criticism and widely publicized attempts to pull it from reaching store shelves, the video game Bully today made its debut in retail stores across the country on the Playstation 2 platform.

The game, which is made by the same people who created Grand Theft Auto, puts players in the shoes of a prep school student who goes through the trials and tribulations of teenagehood. THQ describes the game on its Web site by saying, "you ll stand up to bullies, get picked on by teachers, play pranks, win or lose the girl, and ultimately learn to navigate the obstacles of the worst school around."

The game has become one of the most infamous of the past decade, with public and media outcry giving it more publicity than it probably ever could have achieved on its own. Most recently, a Florida judge safe for public distribution.

Bully is rated T and is available now for $40, exclusively on the PS2. The previously-announced Xbox version was cancelled in July assumedly because the developer did not want to continue working on the increasingly obsolete previous-generation Microsoft platform.
