Bug-hunters threaten to reveal holes
According to Swedish security firm, Defcom, several large software companies with "major operating systems" have not responded to their warnings, private thus far, that dangerous security holes exist in their programs. As a result, Defcom has threatened to expose some of these exploits in an effort to get the attention of the companies involved. A spokesman for the security firm said, "These problems are major bugs that could have a serious effect on a lot of people. It is quite irresponsible." This follows a major policy change at CERT, which now publicizes security problems after giving software companies 45 days to fix them.
