Bruno Bonnell leaves Atari
New York (NY) - Atari announced that Bruno Bonnell, the firm’s is chairman of the board, chief creative officer, acting chief financial officer as well as director has resigned from his positions effective immediately. Bonnell also gave up his positions as the chief executive officer and director of Infogrames, Atari’s majority share holder. Bonnell had founded Infogrames with Thomas Schmider back in 1983.
Neither Bonell nor Atari provided reasons for Bonnell’s departure.
Bonnell was promoted to chairman of the board at Atari in February 2000 and added the role of chief creative officer in April 2004. Between February 2000 and April 2004, Bonnell held the position of chief executive officer at the company.
Atari has been in financial trouble for some time and the firm’s stock has been on an almost continuous downslide since the firm’s first debut at Nasdaq in December 1995. Within the past 12 months, the stock has lost almost 60% of its value.
At market close today, the stock listed for $3.97, giving the company a market capitalization of about $53.5 million.
