Brittanica objects to study claiming equal accuracy with Wikipedia

by - source: Tom's Hardware

The BBC reports this morning on a study published by the journal Nature last December, which compared the scientific accuracy of articles posted to the online resource Wikipedia versus entries in the Encyclopedia Britannica. Officials from Britannica are calling the study "flawed," and is calling for Nature to retract its study.

In a document on their website, Encyclopaedia Britannica said that the Nature study contained "a pattern of sloppiness, indifference to basic scholarly standards, and flagrant errors so numerous they completely invalidated the results."

Though the BBC didn’t point this out, it’s worth noting that Britannica took at least three months to make its reply.
