Diablo III Female Monk Now Official

by - source: Tom's Hardware US

Blizzard uploaded a piece of concept artwork and an in-game animated render of the new female Monk.

The tasty slivers of Diablo III news is just downright maddening. Announced in 2008, the PC game has been in development since 2001 when Blizzard North was still in operation. While we've officially known about Diablo III for almost two years, the wait feels more infinite.

Last week we reported that the Jace Hall Show caught glimpses of a new class in the upcoming action/RPG game. The video depicted three renders of a female version of the Monk class. At the time, the character was considered unofficial. Like the steps leading up to the original Diablo III and StarCraft II reveal, the three renders were Blizzard's sneaky way to provide hints of "possible" content.

Now Blizzard has officially revealed the mysterious female Monk, however the company hasn't released anything specific other than the current Monk details already available on the website. Currently the only items that are relatively new is a piece of conceptual artwork showing the female character, and an animated, in-game render of the female Monk in an action pose.

Blizzard still has yet to reveal the mysterious fifth class. With the game slated for a release in 2011 or beyond (possibly beating out Duke Nukem Forever in development?), it may be a long while before we see the unknown class. Maybe we'll catch a glimpse at BlizzCon 2010.
