BitTorrent Goes Totally Legit, Launches Entertainment Network
BitTorrent is the worlds favourite application for all kinds of internet piracy, with its sharing-is-caring setup seeing terabytes of stolen music, movies, video games and other paraphernalia making their way around the web every day. Ironic then that after signing deals with some of the most major studios in Hollywood, BitTorrent has today launched its Entertainment Network, which is offering up over 3,000 movies from Fox, Paramount, Time Warner and MGM.
This is a rental rather than an ownership service, with rentals lasting up to 30 days and costing around $2.99 and $3.99 for movies ; though TV shows, games and music can be bought, but with the Microsoft DRM thrown in for good measure. Poor Bram Cohen, BitTorrent inventor, says he isn’t happy about the DRM ; but he probably sure is happy about the money he’ll be earning on his one-time coding experiment.
