BiTMicro Networks' 75.7 GB 3.5" Ultra Wide SCSI Solid-State Disk
BiTMicro Networks is now showing off its E-Disk SUD35 and SCD35 with up to 75.7 GB in 3.5" form factor. Rated at 9500 random I/Os per second (IOPS), 48 usec random access time and 34 MB/sec sustained random read and write transfer rates, BiTMicro figures the disks are a good fit for caching apps. According to the company, "Hot Files" usually comprise less than 5 percent of application's database but account for more than 50 percent of I/O waiting time. The E-Disk storage devices are compatible with Linux, Solaris, Windows, MacOS and LynxOS using standard drivers. It also supports AIX, FreeBSD, HP-UX, IRIX, NetBSD, OS/2, QNX, VxWorks, SCO Unixware and OpenServer, Solaris x86 and Tru64. They're big, they're fast and we don't know how much they cost. You'd think that nowadays (especially) companies would be sure to include that info in their announcements.
