Bill Gates Loses His ''World's Richest Man'' Title

by - source: Tom's Hardware US

Bill Gates has once again been bumped out of the top spot on Forbes' rich list.

Forbes has released its list of the richest people on Earth and tycoon Carlos Slim has nabbed the top spot meaning Bill Gates is no longer the richest man in the world. According to Forbes, Bill has been the world's richest man for 14 of the last 15 years previous. The title was awarded to Warren Buffet in 2008, but Bill came back to take the top spot in 2009.

So who's the new guy? Carlos Slim is a 70-year-old Mexican telecoms mogul who placed third on last year's list.  Slim boasts a net worth of $53.5 billion and owns a $23 billion stake in America Movil. Shares for AM were up 35 percent in a year and in the last 12 months alone, Slim's fortune has risen by $18.5 billion.

Bill Gates is currently worth $53 billion, up $13 billion in the last 12 months, and Warren Buffet's fortune jumped $10 billion to $47 billion.

Ohhhh poor Bill I guess he'll have trouble sleeping at night because he lost "the title" of world richest man; ts ts ts ts(laugh)

Anyway Bill is a great person and as a matter of fact one of the reasons he lost number one spot, is that he has donated large amounts of money to charity(I really mean LARGE amounts, billions of $$$)
Respect Bill Gates!!!

$53 billion yet Microsoft refused to fix my 4th broken xbox360 and sent it back damaged and refuted all contract obligation due to they reckon it had been tampered with. Yeah microsoft a three previous times by you.
Ha such a laugh had to actually void my own warranty and fixed myself for £4. Probably done a better job myself. Thanx to the community for all the fix details.

I doubt Carlos Slim has given nearly as much to charity as bill gates has. If I remember correctly he gave a few million to a children's hospital hear and as CEO of microsoft frequently gave computers to lower socio-economic schools.

When I were a lad we would dream of having 53p. At one point we held 3p; but it was only to carry it for mill owner.

Considering all of the poverty in the world it is bizarre and really quite disgusting that one man should be allowed to own so much while so many have so little.

[That could have been written by Winston Churchill :)]
