BenQ will be introducing a new line of LCD gaming monitors at the 2006 Cyberathlete Professional League Championships in Dallas. Four new widescreen monitors will be debuted with sizes ranging from 19 inches to 24 inches. BenQ says the 19" monitor has a response time of 2ms.
Two of the monitors, the FP241W and the FP241VW, are 24" models and can display 1920 by 1200 pixels. The other two monitors are the 22" FP222WH that can display 1680 by 1050 pixels and the FP94VW 19" that can show 1440 by 900 pixels.
All four monitors will feature an HDMI connection along with older D-Sub and DVI-D inputs. The 24" models will also have S-video, composite and component ports. Contrast ratios will range from 700:1 to 1000:1, while brightness will start at 300 cd/m2 and up.
The smallest 19" monitor will sell for $300 while the 24"ers will retail for $1299 and $1499. Apparently the 2ms response time carries a huge premium, as both Dell and Gateway sell slightly slower 24" monitors for $800 and $680 respectively.
