BellSouth Sues Sprint over "Poaching" Claim
BellSouth Corporation and Cingular Wireless, its cellphone affiliate, filed suit last week against Sprint Corporation in State court in Georgia over Sprint's alleged attempt to hire away one of BellSouth's executives. The brouhaha is over BellSouth's current Vice Chairman, Gary Forsee, and whether Sprint can hire him away from BellSouth. Bellsouth claims that because Mr. Forsee is under contract with them that he is prohibited from taking a position at Sprint. BellSouth seems to be claiming that Sprint is "poaching" on its turf because Sprint is attempting to lure away one of its key employees. We wonder whether this is really worth spending the many hours and thousands of dollars to litigate, given the tight budgets of most telecommunications companies.
