Belkin softens draft-802.11g guarantee
Belkin has changed their tune on guaranteeing that its draft-802.11g products will be fully interoperable with released 802.11g products. So that you can judge for yourself, here are Belkin's two replies to the question:"Will you guarantee that your draft-802.11g products will operate with 802.11g released spec products?" Old reply: "Yes. We have a lifetime product warranty and we guarantee our products will work or we will replace them at no charge. We feel that all that MIGHT be necessary is a firmware upgrade. "
New reply: "Our official guarantee is: Our 54g Wireless Networking products are firmware and drive upgradeable, and we will provide the upgrades on our website if any are necessary. " Belkin's products are based on Broadcom's "54g" technology - the same as used in draft-11g products from Linksys, Buffalo Technology and other manufacturers.Belkin's move leaves only Buffalo Technology with an it'll-work-or-we'll-replace-it guarantee.Second draft-11g test fest at UNH
