Another Look at Battlestar Galactica Online...CGI

by - source: Tom's Hardware UK

More CGI space battles.

Yes, we know you've seen a ton of game trailers over the past few days, but hey, it was E3. Now that the show has come to an end, the long wait begins before some of these fantastic games hit the store shelves or your online vendor of choice.

Because we're all Battlestar Galactica fans here, we want to share with you this E3 trailer for BSG Online, which is curiously not only an MMO, but also a browser game.

We seriously doubt that the gameplay will resemble how dynamic things look in this E3 trailer, but more space combat cutscenes will help anyone suffering from BSG withdrawal.

Battlestar Galactica Online

Game description:

Players will be able to choose to play as cylons or humans in a constant struggle to control the universe or just survive its perils. A blend of tactical space combat, exploration, and mission-based gameplay will provide a diverse experience. The dramatic missions will define the game's overall storyline, enabling the player to delve into mysteries of the Battlestar universe. Battlestar Galactica Online will create a new standard for web games, with beautiful 3d graphics and innovative game mechanics bringing a new level of game play to browser based MMOG. Assets from the television production will be integrated into the game to deliver an even more authentic experience.

After Star Trek Online, I'd love to have high hopes for this game, but experience tells me it will probably be another tragic waste of a fantastic license.

Browser based MMO? You realize that this will be similar to Runescape, right? I seriously doubt they'll offer stunning 3D graphics. Browsers are and will remain limited in their graphics abilities for a long time.

BSG Online won't be able to keep up pace with its client based competitors (unless they offer a gameplay that's unique from all its competitors like Runescape does, although that game is ruined by its lack of community)
