Win a decked-out gaming PC from Ballistic!

Want a new gaming rig to blow the competition away in Modern Warfare 2 or to destroy all zombies in Left 4 Dead 2? Then you might want a fresh new gaming PC.

Ballistic Gaming PC, a new player in the custom PC market space, is officially opening its doors later this week on Wednesday, November 25, 2009. As part of its launch, Ballistic has partnered with Tom's Hardware's to giveaway one of its premier gaming PCs.

Who is Ballistic Gaming PC, you ask? You may not have heard of the company yet, but you may have seen its work under a different brand. Ballistic got its start 10-years ago building gaming and high-performance computers for other companies as a contract manufacturer, and are now making the jump for business-to-business to business-to-consumer.

We always like to see a new and fresh face in the boutique gaming PC market, especially since PC gaming needs all the support it can get these days, but Ballistic wants to set itself apart from the competition by delivering both high-quality and lowest prices.

Ballistic stressed that it wants to appeal to all consumers, including those who have less disposable income in this current economic climate. The PC maker also said that low prices doesn't mean cutting corners on parts.

"We refuse to carry sub-par components and hardware, it's useless and expensive to us in the final evaluation and annoying to the consumer who is entrusting us with the responsibility of ferreting out bunk products from their computer. We take that responsibility seriously," said Ballistic founder Paul Singh.

Just what type of hardware components does Ballistic use, you ask? Check out this fine example below:

  • Chassis Model: Cooler Master CM Storm Scout
  • Processor: Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz (Quad Core)
  • Motherboard: EVGA X58 LE Edition SLI (Intel X58 Chipset) (Supports SLI or CrossFire)
  • System Memory: 3GB DDR3 1333MHz Mushkin enhanced
  • Power Supply: 750W Ballistic Certified (Dual SLI Compatible)

I wonder if Toms has yet noticed the animosity over this issue of showcasing US only competitions on the UK site. This is more than a little annoying Toms. Either make the competitions available to UK users, or don't post them on here. FFS, stop winding us up.

I, like ukcal, would be more than willing to pay the £100 or so to get this delivered from America but if you aren't going to offer that option then why would you continue to post US only competitions on your UK site. How hard can it be to stop these articles appearing on this site? You are annoying so many people with these competitions, it might even be acceptable if you threw us a competition once in a while but all you seem to do is taunt us with such amazing competitions without allowing us to ever enter them. Sort this out Tom's, either don't show the US only competitions or just give us something to enter too.

"I wonder if Toms has yet noticed the animosity over this issue of showcasing US only competitions on the UK site"

Don't be daft, the only thing TH notices, is the drop in its advertising revenue and how much of a bonus the bods in the boardroom can squeeze out of accounts.

Like many of you I too am pissed off, so much so that I sent of an email to a couple of 'bestofmedia' adresses and soon got a response from the UK COO Christopher Caussin. His response below:

Thank you for your email.
Indeed Tom’s Hardware current editorial content is extracted from our US Tom’s Hardware website.
I’m glad to announce you that we’re currently hiring UK editors to adapt the US content to UK.
It means prices in pounds, products available in UK and and you’re right competitions open to
UK citizens.
You’ll therefore see our UK site evolve in the coming months.
I sincerely hope you can be a little patient while we improve your experience with Tom’s Hardware.

Regards,

Christopher Caussin
COO
