Zyb
Zyb has sadly achieved far less fame than it deserves. As one of the most complete and easily accessed mobile data backup facilities available, Zyb should be your first port of call when looking to make a backup of data stored on a phone. While it won’t work with a Blackberry (sorry business users, you’ll have to wait until later in the year to avail of the service), Zyb does offer the ability to sync contacts, calendars and text messages directly from a phone to your web-based account.
Signing up for Zyb is both easy and free, making it a more attractive prospect for most than the noticeably more troublesome (and expensive) route of using hardware to backup a SIM and separate hardware to backup removable storage (more on that later).
During sign-up Zyb asks what type of phone the user has, and (for those of us who don’t know our hardware numbers as well as our names) offers a choice of phones of the by brand for you to visually identify if you like. From there it’s simply a matter of choosing your phone and receiving a Zyb configuration message, which prompts your phone to sync with Zyb’s server. The sign-up page walks users through the process step by step, to prevent any confusion.
