Avistar's Tiny Videoconferencing Camera
If you developed a new-found phobia against flying toward the end of last year, videoconferencing may be starting to sound a bit more attractive than schlepping to the airport. To help you avoid the unsightly blemish of a bulbous camera on the top of your monitor, Avistar is putting forth its new Avistar Personal Camera (APC200) for use with the company's desktop videoconferencing system. Avistar says the APC200 is 75% smaller than conventional PC cameras and attaches to any monitor, including thin flat panels, without blocking the screen area. The widget measures 4 x 5.5 cm and can be mounted on a monitor's front, side, or top; on the border of a flat panel or notebook; or on a wall or desk. The APC200 offers 510 x 492 video for NTSC and 500 x 582 video for PAL along with audio capabilities. The APC200 will be sold as part of the Avistar AC210 Client kit, gives you apps for two-way and multi-party calling, broadcast, record and play, and video-on-demand.
