Australia Web bill bans content unsuitable for kids
The South Australia Parliament is reportedly considering an Internet censorship bill that would ban the posting of anything deemed offensive to children. The bill would rely on a film certification system to determine suitability and give the police wide-ranging powers to interpret the law.
The Register characterizes the story as "politicians gone barking mad" and, despite having found other references to the bill, is unconvinced it is not an elaborate hoak.
