Audible and Card Access Ship Springboard Module
I don't want to get up on a pulpit about this, but I'm concerned that people don't read as much as they use to (maybe since if folks stop reading, I'll have to make my living at something that causes me to develop calluses). If you listen to spoken word text in the car or some other place to keep up on things, I think that's great. In my humble opinion, however, there's nothing like the smell of a new book. While my argument used to be that you couldn't throw your laptop under your arm to read in - err, private secluded places - the advent of spoken word digital audio has made it so that you can listen to books and news just about anywhere. Audible , which is partly owed by comedian/actor Robin Williams , and Card Access just let us know about the Audible Advisor, a Springboard module for the Handspring Visor that plays Audible's collection of spoken word audio. The Audible Advisor uses Analog Devices' DSP chipset, consumes less than 40 milliamps (mA), and includes headphones. The little gadget sells for around $50.
