AT&T drops yearly contract for DSL subscribers
DSL subscribers who hate yearly contracts and the early termination penalties that come with them will love AT&T for its recent announcement. The company has streamlined its DSL plans and no longer will require yearly contracts. Customers who still want to sign up for a yearly term will get a free month of service.
The new plans are slightly higher than it’s previous, contract-required, plans. A basic 758 kbps plan is available for $14.99 a month while 1.5 mbps and 3 mbps service will be offered for $19.99 and $24.99 respectively. AT&T will even offer a high-speed 6 mbps plan for $34.99 a month.
Technically, AT&T previously did offer DSL plans without contracts, but they were significantly more expensive and cost between $34.99 and $44.99 a month.
