The ramp-up of PCI Express graphics card works much better than man industry experts initially had expected. ATI said that it shipped its one millionth native PCI Express visual processing unit (VPU) today.
The company claims that ATI and its board partners are still the only source for PCI Express visual processors for consumers..
ATI launched its full family of PCI Express graphics solutions on June 1 at Computex, which included the Radeon X300, Radeon X600 and the Radeon X800 for consumer and commercial customers as well as the FireGL V3100, FireGL V3200, FireGL V5100 and FireGL V7100 for professional customers. These graphics cards are currently shipping to OEM and system integrator customers worldwide, according to ATI.
