ATI Pushes its Chips

Looks like ATI has learned something from its competitors: it's not about the cards, it's about the silicon and the software. The company just let us know that we won't only be seeing ATI graphics technology on ATI cards any more. ATI is now picking partners who will be building other brands of graphics cards using its chips and technology. ATI says these partners will become the major suppliers of its goods to system integrators and distributors. The company will continue to provide chips and board products to OEMs and will continue to support its branded products in the retail channel. According to ATI, the new strategy was developed in line with the company's "commitment to driving profitability and earnings-per-share (EPS) growth by improving gross margins, reducing inventory, and increasing market share." Wonder if it has anything to do with those nasty little lawsuits ?
