ATI released a new version of its Catalyst graphics driver. Besides the usual game performance improvements, ATI claims that the 6.9 package adds dual-graphics support to motherboards based on Intel’s 965 chipset for Core 2 Duo processors. According to the company, Crossfire support is limited to X1900 Crossfire cards and D3D applications under Windows XP.
Performance increases include a 6.7-23.7% gain in 3DMark2006 with anti-aliasing enabled on X1300, X1600 and X1800 cards as well as up to a 9.3% improvement in Doom 3 for all X1000 series cards.
