Asus is one of the first companies to announce motherboards that are based on Intel's P965 chipset and support for the upcoming Core 2 Duo processor with Conroe core. The P5B series support a maximum of 8 GB of DDR2-533, -667 or -800 memory.
According to the manufacturer, the boards integrate three new tools - AI Noise, AI Gear and AI Nap - which simplify overclocking, reduce system noise and control power consumption of a computer system.
Perhaps most interestingly, Asus' new boards do not include a fan, but rather rely on a heat-pipe design to keep the system cool. The premium version of the P5B also includes an on-board Wi-Fi access with an added wireless client feature.

Besides Core 2 Duo processors, the boards also support the Core 2 Extreme as well as older LGA775-based chips such as as Pentium Extreme Edition, Pentium D, Pentium 4 and Celeron D processors. Pricing has not been announced.
