ASUS A7V266 Socket A DDR Motherboard

ASUS just let us know about its new A7V266 Socket A DDR motherboard, which uses the VIA KT266 chipset to support AMD Athlon/Duron processors up to 1.4GHz, along with DDR memory. The A7V266 can hold up to 3GB high-speed DDR200/266 SDRAM at a peak bandwidth of 2.1GB per second. The board provides overclocking options that include DIP switches and ASUS's "JumperFree" mode which lets you adjust overclocking settings manually or from BIOS. 1MHz incremental settings push system-bus settings over 200MHz, while CPU voltage adjustments in 0.05V intervals over default provide additional performance options. The A7V266 also includes 6-channel 3D surround audio with the optional C-Media CMI8738 audio controller. Here's the laundry list of features: support for Socket A (462) AMD Althlon/Duron processors up to 1.4GHz+ VIA KT266 VT8366 North Bridge chipset with VT8233 South Bridge, 3 DIMM slots that support up to 2GB PC1600/PC2100 DDR SDRAM, Ultra-DMA 33/66/100 AGP Pro slot with AGP4X support, six USB ports, five PCI slots, one AMR shared slot, two serial ports, one parallel port, optional C-Media CMI8738 6-channel audio controller, wake-on-LAN, wake-on-ring, smart card reader (SCR) interface support, ASUS PC health monitoring and ASUS PC Probe software.
