Apple TV Delayed Until Mid-March
Apple TV has been delayed from the company’s strongly-held end-of-February shipping date until mid-March, the company has been forced to admit in a statement.
"Wrapping up Apple TV is taking a few weeks longer than we projected, and we now expect to begin shipments mid-March," the company told Reuters.
Apple had been pushing hard to get the media player out the door by the end of February and into homes by early March, but it now looks like the units will begin shipping on or around March 20.
The reason for the delay has not been made clear, but manufacturing concerns are probably at the heart of the matter. The $299 Apple TV, when it arrives, will link a PC or Mac’s media library to a HDTV, to be streamed over 802.11n wireless. It would seem we’ll have to wait until mid-March to give it a goo.
