Apple leases Chicago retail space

The Chicago Tribune reports that Apple Computer, that not long ago denied that it would compete with its retailers, has signed a "long-term lease" for a 33,000 square foot store site in Chicago on the "Magnificent Mile." Observers report that Apple's Palo Alto store could be done this summer.

In related news, a recent Apple firmware update created compatibility problems with DIMMs that don't comply with Apple timing requirements.
