Apple Bagged $400 Million In Free Publicity For iPhone
According to a Harvard Business Professor, Apple managed to bag itself no less than $400 million worth of free publicity when it launched the iPhone in January. Despite only holding 3% of the computer market the professor points out that Apple consistently manages to grab a hugely disproportionate amount of headlines for its products.
The reason ? They’re teh cool, that’s what. Apparently if you want to keep people guessing then it’s best to have consistently cool products, act really, really aloof and as if you don’t really care what the world thinks. Then everybody and their dog wants to know what you’re up to and be "in" with the hip gang, and next thing you know the media is falling over its collective self to report on your doings. This correspondent being no exception, of course... He gotta eat, and what the public wants, the public must get.
