Conclusion
AOpen's MVP Player is in many ways about two years late. Now that everyone has a DVD burner at home and blanks are affordable, there is hardly any reason to redo your DVD movies in DivX. As a multimedia player, however, the box from AOpen is unbeatable and should be your constant companion - and not just when you travel. The ability to switch between PAL and NTSC format- ideal for any overseas vacation - makes the MVP Player ready for use any TV set in the world. If you install the optional hard drive, which can also be used for conventional backups on the PC, you can keep your MP3 or DivX collection with you wherever you go.
With regard to DivX, the MVP Player does not officially support the standard, or else AOpen would have to pay licensing fees, and that would make the player unnecessarily expensive. As it stands, the player only costs $129, which is an acceptable price. While several functions such as Delete or Copy of individual files are still lacking, AOpen may release these features in one of the next updates.
