AOL drops $800M into Gateway
America Online will invest $800 million in Gateway Inc. as part of a comprehensive co-marketing deal that calls for AOL to sell Gateway computers online, while Gateway packages AOL service with its full line of computers.
The companies also will develop a range of hardware and content products together, including the fast-growing non-PC market, which AOL has targeted with its AOL Anywhere service.
