Antec Says "Paws Off" to Chinese and Taiwan Manufacturers of Lighted Fan Technology
California-based Antec, Inc. has sent a warning to manufacturers in Taiwan and China that are making, selling and/or reselling LED (Light Emitting Diode) fans: stop or be sued. Antec manufactures computer hardware and accessories for the upgrade and build-your-own computer enthusiast market. In April 2002 Antec filed for grants of patent design covering its LED fans in both Taiwan and China. Antec has reportedly recently discovered that manufacturers in these two regions are manufacturing and selling LED fans that are "copycat" versions of Antec's design. Antec has issued a warning that it will seek all appropriate legal actions against these manufacturers once the pending patents have been granted. According to Antec's Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Scott Richards, "We will do everything we can to protect our product designs and plan to vigorously pursue all companies who violate our patents. These companies are not only jeopardizing their own credibility, but are also unfortunately putting their distributors and resellers in danger of sharing legal responsibility for the [LED fan] patent infringement."
