Asking about new GPU for pre-built PC

So recently I have thought about upgrading my GPU in my PC, my PC is pre-built from HP (support.hp.com/au-en/document/c04719782)

I was thinking of getting either a GTX 1060 6gb pre-owned or a new RX 580 (both around the $300 AUD mark)

My case is pretty small and I think there's a space of 24cm (around 10 in) from the back panel to the hard drive bays to fit a GPU

I might go $50 over budget to buy a new PSU if needed but this is my first time working on replacement of a GPU and a PSU.

What would you people recommend?

  1. Your PC description isn't working. Please link to it or list the make (HP?) and model.
Is this it by any chance?

If you have the room and a good quality 550W PSU, the RX-580 8GB would be slightly better... depending on the game, of course.

So my link above was correct?
You've got enough CPU to handle the GTX 1060 or RX 580, but the stock 300W is only going to be able to support a GTX 1050 Ti.
Please verify the PSU that you have. Still stock, or have you upgraded? If the latter, state the make/model please.

I am still using the stock PSU is replacing a PSU difficult
  5. Difficult? Only on some pre-built PCs, unfortunately. HP and Dell like to use proprietary connections that retail PSUs don't have. And from what little info I can find on the PSU that your PC has, it appears that is the case. Are you still using the integrated graphics or the GTX 745 that some were sold with?
  6. Do yourself a favor and build a new pc get a case, PSU and GPU use the old HP mobo and CPU/mem
