PC boot issue.

So I just built my new PC, the motherboard is a Rog Strix x3999 E-Gaming, and I'm having a problem. Immediately after I plug the PC up it turns on, regardless if I press the power button or not. Every light on the fans and the mobo turn on, however after a few seconds it turns off. It turns off, but not completely. The lights on the mobo stay on while everything else goes dark. In addition, there are these sort of "status" lights on the mobo that come on if you don't have some things plugged up correctly. For instance, if you didn't have the CPU power plugged in, a red light would come up over the CPU power header. When I turn on the PC, one yellow light comes on and stays on in the bottom right of the mobo. It is just beside the sata ports and I believe it is also a status light, but I have no clue for what.

Yes, I do have the ram plugged in the right spots and I have experienced with the ram, it seeme that different setups yield different results. With the recommended ram setup, what occurs is what I described above in the first paragraph. With a different setup, the PC turns on for a moment, then off, then on, then off, then it stops completely with the lights on the mobo still on. Please help?

  1. When you are using the recommended RAM setup....does the PC operate properly other than what you mentioned?

The reason I say this....is I have seen lots of PCs do exactly what you are describing and I just let them do it. I think it's actually by design in some machines.

No, it does not work with the recommended ram setup.
  3. So after you plug it in...and it does what it does and then becomes stable.....what happens when you press the power button?

Absolutely nothing. Power is plugged in the correct way, it simply doesn't want to do anything.
