motherboard and cpu not compatible

I have a ASUS Z270-A motherboard and i5-7600k LGA 1151 CPU. Can't get a OS installed because one is 6th Gen and the other is 7th Gen (CPU). What are some motherboards that would be compatible?
Thanks,
Harold

Intel® Socket 1151 for 7th/6th Generation Core™ i7/Core™ i5/Core™ i3/Pentium®/Celeron® Processors theres your answer straight from the motherboard page. It supports all 6th and 7th gen intel cpu's. double check and make sure your setup is compatible with the OS your trying to install.

Seems I got some wrong information about the compatibility.

I have Windows 7 Pro 64 bit that includes service pack 1.

  5. This is my first build. I have been trying for a couple of months off and on to install an OS. I have even returned the motherboard to ASUS to see if there was anything wrong. They didn't find anything. Sometimes learning is costly. I will keep trying and post back what happens. Thanks, all.

  6. For Windows 7 there's a different way to install it for that motherboard, follow the guide on the ASUS website.

What GPU is it, Win 7 has some hardware limitations for what GPU you can use.

  9. I was able to install windows 10 after I made a rather large iso file from the windows 10 iso plus the drivers from the motherboard support disk. It was over 10 GB but it installed. It was quite a relief to no have to buy something else and just use what I had. Thanks for the good information about compatibility. The bad information came from the people at ASUS. I put this in the message to remind me and others that all the information that you get from any help source may or may not be accurate. Research, research, research for yourself.
    Thanks all,

You said you used the drivers disk included? I recommend you update them now, those drivers are guaranteed not to be the newest. It was kinda made into a big meme by Linus from LTT when he tossed the disc across the room during a video.

Won't windows 10 update the drivers when I get an update? Sorry, messed up the quote.

I'm not sure about Win10 updating drivers, but to be sure jump to the motherboards website and get the latest just to be safe, the disk ones are always outdated, you'll most likely get better performance if you update the drivers now.
