Boot device not detected

I’ve just installed a GA-BA85-HD3 Rev 1 Mobo but it won’t boot ie boot device not detected. I can see my HD in the bios but nothing in boot priorities. I was hoping to boot from my HD to avoid reinstalling. I have read that you should be able to boot from the drive after a Mobo upgrade but I’m now thinking that maybe I need a boot disk/pendrive. Please advise

  1. well thats the thing when changing a hdd from say an old mobo to a new mobo. it can cause issues and so on as with the old mobo the hdd has read all the hardware on that mobo etc. you would need to do a full fresh install of windows
