Pc won't boot up, black screen and noise

Few days ago my pc just froze when i was plugging my mouse into different usb port. It froze and changed to black screen. Tried rebooting, but it stuck on black screen, no windows logo, no asus logo. I tried whatever i could, but nothing. Even changed the monitor, still the same. I suspected the graphics card, but now i'm not so sure. Almost everytime i try booting again, psu makes loud noises. If anyone has suggestions what it might be, please help.

  1. I think I would already have a PSU ordered and on the way. ;)

  3. I could be you shorted the 5V USB lines which are powered by the PSU (just a guess)....and normally this shouldn't hurt the supply...but maybe it did. What you are describing sounds to me like the PSU is the problem.

  5. So everything inside is spinning, psu fan, cpu and gpu fan, and there is a little green light on the motherboard. Does that mean that nothing died?

  6. Turns out nothing died. The parts needed cleaning and the contact between graph. card and mobo is fragile, but it works.
