Q6600@3.00GHz no perf improvement

Hi, I got a problem, CPUz tells me my Q6600 is running at 3.00GHz (more or less) but when I fire up cinebench I don't get any performance boost, it's still 240 cb or even less. Same for superpi, 21 seconds. Whats the problem ?

  1. Having a quad-core CPU won't give you any benefits over a dual-core CPU when running single-threaded benchmarks. You need to compare multi-threaded Cinebench results.

I mean, I get the same results with the exact same processor but at a higher clockspeed, i'm not comparing two different processors

  3. Probably performance has more to do with the instruction sets the CPU can do than the ghz the cpu can get to.

I remember my good, old Q6600.

  4. Double-check that your before and after clock frequencies have actually changed during each benchmark. Maybe something is causing the CPU to get clocked the same during both runs.
