AMD FX-6300 and Ryzen 5 1600x

Right now I have the amd fx-6300. I want to upgrade to the ryzen 5 1600x do I need a new heatsink? Or can I use the old one?

    You need a new motherboard and DDR4 memory modules if you want to run Ryzen.

  2. ^^ and aside from that, you will need at least a new bracket for the heat sink, as the old one will not fit with new motherboard.

  3. Old heatsink ? Like in OEM from FX 6300 ?
    If that's the case, it would fit and latch as normal but is not adequate for 1600x. At 3.6GHz may be almost enough but not if turbo kicks in.
