Frames drop to 23 when gaming with a controller.

System Specs:
i7-6700k @ 4.00 GHZ
Z170A Asus Motherboard
32 Gbs Corsair Dominator Platinum 2667mhz RAM
980Ti Sli

Recently in some games like Warframe, Rainbow 6 Siege, and COD: Black Ops 3, I've been having an issue with the game dropping frames to exactly 23 fps until I alt tab out and back into the game. When the game is running normally I'm usually in the high 100+fps but it's frustrating when you're in the middle of a match and it drops to a slide show.

I have a Acer G-Sync monitor and I have it enabled in the nvidia controller for both full screen and windowed borderless modes. This will happen in the game regardless of the mode I'm playing, but it won't happen when I'm using a mouse and keyboard.

I've looked up a few solutions but nothing has worked yet.

  1. Why are you gaming on PC with a Controller?

At any rate, try to uninstall and reinstall the Drivers for the Controller, download the Xbox Accessories App to install Updates and/or Firmware through either an Xbox One, or look for it online

Because PC gaming is all about options, one of the ones I choose is a controller?

I tried this solution at your recommendation, it still occurs. Even after the firmware update to the controller. One thing I noticed is that it seems to happen more frequently after my monitor has gone to sleep and comes back on. It's always 23 frames exactly. Is it possible an issue with G-Sync?

  3. Fair enough, I just couldn’t do it myself in games like that, no offense dude

As for the Controller, it very well could be an issue with your Monitor, or the PC sending to the monitor, but this seems to be an issue that’s fixed differently for many people, sometimes not at all
Many of the issues I’ve found refer to a Bluetooth connectivity however, and certain games

Is there any way you could reinstall your Graphics drivers, and/or reinstall Windows to see if there’s an issue with Windows itself?

It happens in a few different games but it never seems all that consistent. Like it'll do it in black ops 3 and it'll stop once I alt + tab. I've done DDU clean installation on my drivers a few times to try and get it resolved. I might try reinstalling windows, though I would want that to be my last solution. I did upgrade to windows 10 from windows 8, so a clean install could fix the issue.

  5. If you ALT+TAB out and then back into the game does the problem persist? If so maybe try Borderless Windowed?
Reinstalling Windows can be a pain, definitely a last solution. I ended up having to do it recently to fix issues with Nvidia Drivers, but if that could be what's causing the issue its always worth trying if all else fails
