What speed is requird for 4k gaming online?

I want to know what is needed to play games online in 4K, I know I can get the resolution if I have all the 4k components for my PC but do I need a certain speed to play 4K online. My internet speed is terrible and runs at only 7mbps download and 0. something upload despite this terrible speed I have a powerful system that can run 4K, therefore the resolution for 4k is not a problem but what about actually playing the game online would I have issues with lag?

  1. Not a problem.
Internet gaming speeds (server) are not affected by the resolution you are using (client).

Most of what the server sends is where you are, what you are looking at and how fast you are moving. Location, direction, speed.
All graphics are handled on your end, but that can cause lag if your PC isn't able to handle 4K.

  2. Honestly if you payed that much for a system that can handle 4k you should've just upgraded your internet

Unless your area is still running copper wire, it can "handle" 1GBPS+. More likely, the bandwidth is being limited by your ISP so they can price gouge you to death.

Money is not the problem, if I wanted to pay for better speeds I would have done so already, however when I tried to apply to certain services for speeds over at least 25mbps, they said it could not be done in my area and that they will have to set some things up but will require a large number of people to sign up to their services.

  7. Gamerk316 my house is still running dsl, why else do you think I would say it could only "handle" 100 megabit speeds, I only even have 40 megabit speeds.
