Can I run Witcher 3 at 60FPS in 720p with these components?

Hi. I just built a PC and I still haven't bought the VGA card as I am not sure what to buy. These are my components

Intel Core i7-7700 3.6GHz
ASUS ROG Strix Z270F Gaming Motherboard
G Skill Ripjaws V DDR4 16GB 2800MHz RAM
Thermaltake 80Plus 500W PSU

The thing is, I have a 720p monitor which I don't plan on upgrading and the VGA I have in mind is the ASUS GTX 1050Ti Expedition Edition 4GB. So, will I be able to run Witcher 3 at high settings on the 720p monitor with this GPU?

  1. Yes it should be able to easily achieve 60fps high settings at 720p in the witcher 3.

Just be aware that pascel cards like the 1050 ti no longer support analog signals like VGA which an older 720p monitor likely uses. So if your only option is VGA on that monitor it will require an active adapter that will convert analog to digital to HDMI or display port. I linked one below.

Thanks for the answer bro! Yes I am aware of that but my monitor has the HDMI port as well so no worries. Btw it's resolution is 1366x768. Is that considered as 720p? And by high do you mean ultra settings or high? There is no bottlenecking here is there?

No 1280x720 is 720p. But 1366x768 doesn't really change my first answer. High or ultra, try both I dont know off the top of my head how well your hardware will do in witcher 3 at 768p and I doubt you will find any benchmarks of that. If I had to guess high settings will probably get you a steady 60fps, it may dip below that with everything on ultra especially with hair works. ultra shadows, and max view distance

There is always a bottleneck. With your particular system in a game like witcher 3 the 1050 ti will be your bottleneck, in the sense that if you had a more powerful GPU your CPU would be able to make use of it. Bottleneck simply means the limiting component in your system for a certain application.

I see that makes a lot of sense to me now. Been googling this for a while but I haven't found any answers. Thanks for clearing my doubts. I can get a 1050Ti now. Also 1050Ti over the RX560 right?
  5. Yes the 1050 ti will outperform the 560 in pretty much everything besides a few select games that use the vulkan API such as DOOM. The 1050 ti pretty handily out performs the 560 in witcher 3.
