Used GPUs vs New GPUs

I'm looking to buy a new GPU from my R9-270x. I was looking on eBay and am currently deciding between a sub $200 Gtx 970 or 780ti. Both are pretty close in performance. My current specs that matter are an i7-4790k, 8GB RAM, and a 750w PSU. I do t care much about heat of the card, but do with noise. My current 270x has pretty bad coil whine. (That or it's my HDD...) Either way, which one would be a safer bet, or should I look into waiting for Christmas sales a go for something new? Thanks :)

  1. the 780Ti is a better card from performance point of view.
there is no way to tell which one is safer to get. if both were used in the same conditions, there shouldn't be a difference. It really depends on conditions there were used in.

1060 3gb could also be a good option in the same price range. Without having to worry about buying used.

  3. Honestly I would grab the cheapest GTX1060 3GB or one with dual fans and overclock it. Going to fall somewhere between the GTX970 and GTX980 under most circumstances.

I would get a 3gb 1060, unless you got a good deal on a 970 then I'd get that. I would not consider the 780Ti, too old, unless you got a deal so good that you'd have to be crazy to pass it up.
