Should I upgrade or stay with this configuration for a year?

My current Configuration is FX 8350 Wraith cooler edition, Gigabyte 970 g1 gaming motherboard, hyper x 1866mhz ddr3 12gb ram and zotac amp 1060 6gb. Should i upgrade it to i7 or stay with this configuration for a year? I mostly play games on 1920*1080 resolution.

  1. are you happy with gaming experience? If your monitor is 60 Hz, no need to upgrade because FX 8350 is still capable of 60 FPS for many games. You can save and prepare for a complete new build when you need to play most recent AAA games and not happy with current performance :)

  2. Your videocard is better than the rest of your system. Are you looking to upgrade all at once or in piecemeal?

  5. yes, FX is dead in the sense you shouldn't build a new system with it, Ryzen or coffee lake is better choice atm. However, as functionality, it is still decent :)

  7. If you are happy with performance, don't upgrade since better CPUs are coming out every year, and current best will discount. Upgrade when you need to, not following others :)

Definitely worth waiting a bit with Z370 mobos and DDR4 ram prices high.

Also save up a bit more to upgrade your monitor at that point. 144hz is awesome if you haven't experienced it.

  10. Your ram clock is quite low for the rest of the spec. I'd push at least another 1000mhz
