Best cooling for a GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition?

I am planning to build a Gaming Rig that includes a GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition. I am not sure about the kind of cooling that I should use, as it would need to fit in the case I am using(Corsair Obsidian 900D).

Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, sorry if this has been asked before.

  1. Hey there!

The founders edition cards from NVIDIA all come with blower-style coolers built right on the cards. It is possible to modify the cooling solution on your graphics card - for example, installing a water block on the card if you're planning to build a custom water-cooling loop. However, most users don't undertake that kind of task because it's pretty advanced and expensive.

However, looking at the case you're reviewing - perhaps you are going after a custom watercooling solution?

If so, I would check out https://www.ekwb.com/

They have a custom loop "configurator" tool that will help you decide on waterblocks, resevoirs, fittings, etc. You can specify the case you're working with and their tool will help you find compatible parts.

    I hope this helps!

Thanks for the helpful information. I was not intending to look for a custom water cooling solution. I was just wondering if special cooling for it would be required. Considering the case has tons of fan mounting points, I may not need a custom cooling solution.

  3. The cooling setup for the case itself isn't going to have as much impact on the gpu temperatures. The reference card's blower cooler will be the limiting factor in regarding gpu temperatures.
