CSGO Gets Choppy w/ 1080 + 4790k

I have a GTX 1080 and an i7 4790k but I still have moments where my game gets super choppy, like I can see the screen ripple almost. Around molotovs, back of B bombsite (made worse by an execute consisting of molotovs), some areas of cache.

I'll get 400-500+ fps in some areas and at some times..and then poop choppyness.

I had the same thing happen before I upgraded from a 390x to a 1080.

Any ideas?

Current launch options:
-novid -high -threads 4 +cl_forcepreload 1 -nod3d9ex

Launch options I tried before this:

-novid

before that:

-novid -freq 144

All settings in CSGO are low. Only multicore rendering is enabled.

Nvidia settings:

I've tried with shader cache on and off.

BIOS of the motherboard up to date?

temperature of the CPU is fine under load?

use ddu uninstaller to delete AMD and nvidia drivers. Reinstall latest driver from nvidia.com

check HDD/SSD with its manufacturer´s tool and update the firmware

    run a memtest

If your card gets you 400-500 FPS while showing nothing much going on then it will get you lower FPS if something demanding is happening(like molotovs) did you check to see what kind of FPS you get while you see molotovs? Might still be super high FPS but you notice the change from one to the other.
Limit your FPS to 300 or something and see if that helps.

  4. I've tried limiting the FPS, doesn't solve it unfortunately. The FPS drops but its this choppy/rippling that happens that makes it so bad.

BIOS of the motherboard up to date?
    - BIOS Date: 5/30/2014
    - Model z97X Gaming 5
    - BIOS Version: F5

temperature of the CPU is fine under load?

    - Yep. Everything seemed fine. Nothing higher than 70c after 30min or so of gaming.

use ddu uninstaller to delete AMD and nvidia drivers. Reinstall latest driver from nvidia.com
    - I did this recently when swapping from AMD to NVIDIA cards.

check HDD/SSD with its manufacturer´s tool and update the firmware

    - I'll have to look into this

    run a memtest

    - I've done this. Opened 8 windows of memtest, ran them all, etc.

  7. Boot with the usb autoinstaller from www.memtest.org to check the RAM completely

update to BIOS version F7 via q-flash and the unzipped bios file on an USB flash drive within BIOS itself:
    https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-Z97X-Gaming-5-rev-10#support-dl

3dmark result? (the website link of it)

I'll have to check this stuff out when I get home from work today.

Also, I downloaded and ran the benchmark program from userbenchmark or w/e and I had like 112% in gaming, 103% in desktop. Was in like the 98th percentile on lots of parts, etc. I had optimizations done and my system runs super smooth and fast but I still have this issue.
