HDD not detected anymore

Hi. Up until now my pc's been running smoothly. I upgraded it a month ago, new hdd, new MB, processor, etc.. today when i came back from school, i went to use my computer and saw that the screen was frozen. I could see my desktop and a few apps opened , but it was all frozen, so i decided to restart my computer. When booting up it went straight to the BIOS. And in the boot options my HDD wasnt there even though i could still feel it spinning! My dvd drive loads up just fine but somehow my hdd isnt recognized anymore, id like to know what is going on.

UPDATE: so i decided to reinsert my win8.1 installation disc to see what i could do. As expected , it couldnt detect my hdd. I went back and clicked on the option to repair the pc. I clikced on the refresh pc option , and i got an interesting message: ." The drive where Windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again." If my hdd is indeed locked, how do i unlock it? And why did it lock itself in the first place?
