  1. What motherboard.
Most with 2 slots one will work in PCI-E X4 speed and the other will actually work off the SATA ports slowing down the performance.
  2. Hi mate Asus H270 Pro.
  3. 1 x M.2 Socket 3 with M Key, type 2242/2260/2280 storage devices support (SATA mode & X4 PCIE mode)
    1 x M.2 Socket 3 with M Key, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 storage devices support (both SATA & x2 PCIE mode

Make sure you have it set to X2 mode but the 2nd one will not go X4 speed.
  4. is there a board that does accommodate both? or am i being greedy....do i really need the speed

I’m having the same problem I have a asus x299 prime-a, i9-7900x, a 960 pro 512 gb on a vanetec pcie card, 960 pro 1tb in the m.2 vertical slot, 950 pro 250 gb as my boot. Quadro p4000 for graphics

Do I have to go into the bios to setup.? Have you heard of any problems with vanetec adapters. Going to order the asus version and see if it changes the speed
  6. Hello fella

ok mate so good news....it is all sortable.

biggest issue is bios update. i upgraded my board to z270h but without bios update m.2 drives were random in performance. i did find it difficult to update bios as i am not a computer geek shall we say....my first build in fact.

if you need help updating bios let me know.

windows 10 is a fucker aswell....so many bugs....i needed to re-install several times and it felt like a bit of a fluke when i got it all right

get the bios done. install evo drivers and samsung magician http://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/download/tools.html

my biggest problem as i am a novice was finding the bios update file i had downloaded from asus to usb in the menu in bios. hope you fair better

my first build was so disheartning but with resolve my machine is now rapid!

i should of gone for higher spec gb evo`s but i couldnt afford it
